More states are coming soon. Every U.S. nonprofit hospital must offer financial assistance, so if your state isn't listed yet you can still get general guidance.
In Washington, D.C., every hospital must provide a reasonable amount of free (uncompensated) care — set at 3% of its operating costs — and report it to the city. Ask any D.C. hospital about financial assistance (D.C. Code § 44-405). See the official source ↗
